Shoemaker Green | Philadelphia, PA
A 2.7 acre passive open space, Shoemaker Green was created above former tennis courts, parking lots and driveways. Working closely with the design team, Meliora designed the stormwater management system that includes rain gardens, a water reuse cistern, and a system to passively and actively irrigate the landscape with the site’s stormwater runoff. The design overcame numerous challenges such as unmapped brick sewers and historic rubble fill and meets the volume management requirements of the Philadelphia Water Department and the sustainability goals and requirements of SITES.
