Michele Adams, PE, LEED AP
Principal and Civil Engineer
For more than 35 years, Michele’s career focus has been on environmentally sensitive site design, water resources engineering, and green stormwater infrastructure. Her work includes planning and engineering with emphasis on sustainable and resilient designs that strive to improve human and ecological well-being.
Michele, who founded Meliora Design in 2007, is one of the principal authors of the Pennsylvania Stormwater Best Management Practices Manual and the award-winning High Performance Landscape Guidelines, 21st Century Parks for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. She also co-authored the Wiley textbook “Design for Flooding: Architecture, Landscape, and Urban Design for Resilience to Climate Change.”
A graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, Michele has done graduate work in water resource engineering at Drexel and Villanova universities. In addition to running Meliora Design, she serves on the U.S. Green Building Council’s
Water Efficiency Technical Advisory Group and is a member of the American Rivers Science and Technical Advisory Committee.
When she isn’t busy improving sites for Meliora’s clients, Michele’s side project for the last 22 years has been ecological restoration through the removal of invasive plants and installation of native species at her 6.5-acre farm in northern Chester County. She also boards and shares two horses, Beau and Quinn, with her sister, and rides whenever she can.
